1. What is RingCentral? Top

The RingCentral Communication Service is a unified messaging and call routing service that provides you with your own personal local or toll-free number. Your RingCentral number is immediately active and ready to accept and route calls, take voicemail and send, receive and broadcast faxes. Based on your service preferences, RingCentral can route calls up to four numbers, either simultaneously or in your specified order, or, alternatively, record and save voice messages 24 hours a day. Whether you are forwarding your calls or using voicemail only, RingCentral will always accept incoming faxes. Unlike that of a long distance telephone company, RingCentral does not *piggy-back* onto your existing phone line so no additional telephone features are required. Each service level includes all the available features of RingCentral, including, voicemail, call forwarding (routing), fax send/receive/broadcast, call log, online account management and much more. RingCentral is perfect if you want to provide your friends, colleagues and family members with a local or toll-free voice and fax number that you can afford.

Do you have a cell phone? Home phone? Work phone? Does each phone have voicemail? In addition, do you also have a fax machine? It would seem then, that you have a lot of work to do just to keep up with all of your messages, faxes and phone calls. The idea of unified messaging is to consolidate all of your communications needs into a single phone number - in this case, a toll-free number - to allow complete control of all your calls, as well as your voice and fax messages. Your clients, family and friends only have to know one number to reach you. You never have to give out a private number yet you can use them to be reached if and when you want. RingCentral fulfils this idea by providing a single toll-free number that can accept inbound faxes and voice messages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and saving them in your unified online account. These messages may be accessed online or over the phone, and can even be forwarded as attachments to multiple email addresses providing even greater work efficiency. RingCentral can also route your voice calls to up to four different numbers, e.g., your cell, home and work phone, etc., but will always save any messages in your toll-free voicemail. Thereby, RingCentral eliminates the need for numerous voicemail services, passwords, and most of all, time consuming phone calls to check voice messages. What's more, you can even forward your existing phone lines to your toll-free number, creating a truly unified call routing and messaging service for all of your existing telephone numbers.

5. I have a cell phone that takes messages when I am not available - so I have that covered, right?- Top
-
Unlike your cell phone, your RingCentral service can send and receive faxes, direct your calls to any number and find you by dialing through a list of up to four numbers (which could include your cell phone). Messages and faxes can be viewed on the web or emailed directly to your desktop. You never have to give out your cell phone number to anyone, protecting your privacy. RingCentral can prescreen all your calls, is always up and running, and gives you a professionally sounding front end. Your callers will never hear "The subscriber you have called has traveled outside the coverage area." RingCentral goes far beyond your cell phone's screening, forwarding, mailbox and notification capabilities. You cell phone is a great adjunct to RingCentral.

6. Do I need any additional telephone features to make this work? - Top
-
No! No additional local or long distance telephone features are required for RingCentral to function. Nevertheless, you can have RingCentral answer your existing phone line by setting up Call Forwarding provided by your local telephone company.
-
7. What does the Desktop software do? Top
-
If you are in front of your computer, the RingCentral desktop client serves as your control panel to all you telephony needs. As calls come in, you can decide how to handle them - send to voicemail, direct to a local phone, reply using text or ignore altogether. Additionally the client provides access to RingCentral Internet Fax for all fax send, broadcast and receive capabilities. The desktop client provides a convenient way to quickly get to your online account to listen to messages, view your call log, change preferences and update your account information. This software is provided for your convenience and is not required to monitor your incoming calls. When you are not using the software, your toll-free RingCentral number will still answer and route calls as well as accept faxes, 24 hours a day.

8. Can I record my own greetings?Top
-

9. Do I need an existing phone line? Top
-
No! No additional telephone lines or features are needed in order to use RingCentral. The unified messaging provided by RingCentral is a completely stand-alone system. If you want to answer incoming calls, however, you will obviously need a phone to accept calls -that could be a cell phone, your home phone, an office phone or any other existing line. If you do not have an existing phone, RingCentral will receive incoming voicemail and faxes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and save them to your online account. You can retrieve and listen to these messages directly through the web. RingCentral will also log every caller - and their Caller ID - that ever dials your toll-free number and detail them in your online Call Log.

-
10. Can I choose my own (vanity) number? - Top
-
Yes! It is possible to get a toll-free vanity number for RingCentral. Numbers are subject to availability and the ordering process for vanity numbers takes anywhere from 7-10 days to complete. There is a $30 setup fee for ordering vanity numbers. An 8xx toll-free number that rings busy or is not in service does not necessarily indicate availability of that number. For more information on how to order a vanity number, please send a blank email to vanity@ringcentral.com.
